Let’s face it, Anne-Catherine Frey’s beautiful Parisian apartment is a calm oasis in the lively Parisian neighbourhood, Le Marais. JJ stopped by to get the inside scoop on this absolutely fabulous nest.
Three words for your apartment.
Personal: Everything (or almost) is exactly my taste when it comes to decoration
Private: I keep everything I own in there so I dont like having people around except close friends
Organized: I love keeping my space tidy as I love it when my place looks its best. I care about little stuff like that so I tidy every night before going to sleep.
Where is your favorite place to buy accents for your apartment?
All over the world! I bought my rugs in L.A. and London, found a little school table on the street in Paris and got a mural rug (the one in my entrance) from a random store in NYC. I also have a lot of little stuff from Tokyo standing around.
Here in Paris I like going to FLEUX for little mugs and other fun stuff or the fleamarket for vintage tableware. I tried Merci for linen bedsheets but I’m going to stick with Zara Home – the quality is better and its 1000 times cheaper. Im really
always looking to make good deals everywhere.
What is your favorite candle and scent?
I am addicted to Diptyque! I never buy other candles! My favorite smell is Baies and Santal – but at the moment I’m trying the Tomas Maier online editions and the limited city editions they did a while ago. I light candles almost every night, summer and winter, so I get to change often and try lots of them!
What does a lazy evening chez toi look like?
Face mask, Shower, Couch, Netflix, Sleeping – it’s that easy!
What is your favorite thing in your apartment?
Tricky question. I don’t own a lot of furniture (only a couch, a chair and 2 rugs) but I can’t decide on only one thing. Everything in my apartment is there because I really love it so it’s a global thing – I like everything. I have still a lot of work to do in my bedroom, I haven’t found furniture I like for it yet so IKEA has to work until I find the perfect pieces.
What item have you had the longest?
A little red chair that belonged to my dads Grandmother I think. Its been in the family forever and I love it.
What is the last thing you bought?
Small investment: a lighter that looks like a miniature IPhone – its so cute
Big investment: my House of Hackney Saber Tiger Pillow – I love HoH and love investing in their pieces. One day I’ll have HoH Velvet Curtains!
Savoir Vivre of your place?
Its comfy and its minimal – I like keeping my space empty to not make it look smaller than it already is. I love the emptiness of it.
