What time do you wake up?
It depends, but I like to be up by 6:30am. I love a morning workout. Problem is, I also love my second wind at night… And love my sleep. Gotta square that somehow, soon!

What do you have for breakfast?

Greek yogurt, blueberries, and this new chickpea-based granola I’m loving. Or, avocado toast with an egg on top. Made at home, so you know, it’s not $14.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee!!! Look, mad respect for tea, but I always associate it with feeling under the weather.

What is your morning routine?

I continue to tinker with it to make the most out of it. I love mornings. My partner and I just adopted a dog, so I’m getting used to waking up and taking the little guy out. I admire his ability to be groggy one minute and up-and-at-’em the next. I like quiet time to do a 5-minute meditation, write how I’m feeling for a few minutes, plan my day, read the news, have a coffee and breakfast. In an ideal world, I’d have a full 90 minutes to do my morning thing, plus an hour workout, but that isn’t always the reality. :-)

What do you do for exercise?

I love workouts. It’s my time to be alone, think, and push myself. I use an app called Future where a remote trainer loads workouts for the week ahead. I hit play, put on a good list of remixes, and go at it.

What is on your current playlist?

Basically, Heyday music.

Do you have a beauty routine? What products do you use?

I mean, of course. Our team has me taking good care of my face! I use products from Heyday (and try new products we’re considering) and love a great cleanse in the morning and night, along with religiously moisturizing and wearing sunscreen. There’s more to my routine, but the one thing I’m super lazy about is toner or eye cream.

What is your favorite café? Where is it?

Oh gosh, so many. First one that comes to mind right now is Cafe Gitane in Nolita. Super cute, delicious, feels like you’re in Europe, and the server outfits look like vintage flight attendant uniforms, which I’m obsessed with.

What is your favorite restaurant? Where is it?

It’s no longer around, but it was PUBLIC, in Nolita. My first job in the city was for the design firm that owned it. We worked upstairs and were able to join the restaurant for staff meal every day at 5:15 and have a shift drink after. I knew that was special then, but looking back, it’s even more so. I had so many great memories dining there (and I haven’t even mentioned the food yet.)

How many emails do you get a day? How many do you respond to?

Too many. Not enough. 2019 is all about figuring out how to not be managed by an inbox, and for our company to do as much collaborating outside of an inbox as possible. I love technology and what it’s unlocked for the human race, but I think it’s been fairly punishing in many ways. Neither our minds nor the clock have evolved at the rate technology has, and I think it’s impacted our mental health massively. I digress.

What is the last book you read?

I always say at some point in life, hopefully soon, I’ll get back to fiction… 2018 was What Happened and a slew of leadership/business books. Maybe I should have some more escapism in 2019.

What is the last thing you watched on Netflix?

Roma. A beautiful film. Makes you really feel how big and small we all are at the same time, depending on the moment.

What is your go-to homemade meal?

Roasted chicken and roasted vegetables. Love the oven! My partner and I recently watched that awesome food doc, Salt Fat Acid Head, and Samin’s buttermilk roasted chicken is out of this world. And so easy.

What is your drink of choice?

Coffee by day. A paper plane by evening.

What is your biggest vice?

Pastries, for sure. So hard.

What time do you go to bed?

Too late. I get a second wind around 10pm that is very productive for work and my partner calls it “tornado mode” with tidying the apartment. I really love going to bed with everything in its place, but I also like waking up before everyone else. Need to reconcile that!

Bedtime ritual?

The skincare routine. :-) And aforementioned tidying of all the things.

What do you do to relax?

It sounds strange, but I found housework very relaxing and rewarding. You can’t do it with a phone in your hand. A good project around the house relaxes me, too.

NYC or LA?

Love both. So many of my friends have migrated to LA, so visiting has felt more native in recent years. They both have such different energy and it’s nice to be able to tap both. New York has a speed that’s addictive. LA has the opportunity for me to sing horrifically at the top of my lungs in a rental car where no one will hear it.

Where would you like to travel to that you have never been?

Iceland, Patagonia, New Zealand… I love the end-of-the-Earth destinations and need to get to some of them!

Beach or mountains?

Very tough! Both fill you with possibility; the beach is relaxing, the mountains are a reminder of how small we are and.

Where is the most special place in the world to you?

What a big question. In the past few years, it’s been our place upstate, just outside the city. It’s a respite from the busy-ness of the week, the people-intensity of my business and New York City in general. I never thought I’d be a rural person, but I can’t get enough of the trees and quiet.

PARISIAN LOS ANGELES TAKEOVER {french california based pr consultant anne diagne gives gives us the low down on the best places to eat healthy, enjoy nature and stay fit in la}

Anne 1.jpg

You’re in for a real treat. Well-known fashion PR consultant Parisian born and LA based Anne Diagne gave me the low down on the city she has now called home for over two years and I can’t wait to share it with y’all. Passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle and staying fit, Anne has successfully sought out the secret local and all around best spots in this big city to enjoy Mother Nature and eat like a green goddess.

To stay in shape, Anne heads to Silver Lake Reservoir – The Meadow to relax and unwind. In this calm setting, Anne highly recommends meditating by the water and bringing your yoga mat along for a practice in the meadow. For those runners out there, you can also put your feet to the ground for a calm run along the reservoir. Now for what else… but HIKING. What would an LA chick be without her favorite spot to hike? Anne’s preferred location is Elysian Park in East LA for a shorter hike with a beautiful view of Downtown LA and Griffith Park for a more difficult one, where you also have the opportunity to enjoy one of the world’s most incredible observatories and planetariums.

As a vegetarian for over 15 years, greens and healthy eating is in her blood. Her all time favorite spot to keep those good and well-being vibes flowing is at MH ZV in Silverlake. This Israeli spot is tasty and delicious, with dishes made from only local ingredients. Don’t miss their potatoes with lemon, Anne promises it will take you to Tel Aviv and back. For a touch of Paris in LA, Cafe Stella is a no brainer, and for her favorite Mexican joint? Salazar. The place is very local using only organic ingredients. The vegetarian tacos are supposedly to die for (Anne is always talking about them). Last but definitely not least, the best place to recharge for a juice? Kreation in Venice. Anne swears on their blending creations (and also loves walking on Abbot Kinney with one in hand). This fashion guru with 10 years of experience in the field is forever french (a Parisian born and bred), but has that real Californian chill vibe. I can happily assure you she knows those real hot spots in LA.
